All, It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that due to the unforeseen additional expenditure and additional requirements placed upon the event organisers by Lincolnshire Police and the Emergency planning group, I have been forced into taking the decision to cancel the 2012 Spalding Town Centre Races. I am as ever committed to promoting cycle racing in any way possible and will be looking at promoting another event in May using the RAF Barkstone Heath closed circuit.
Spalding Cycling Club welcome you. With the increase in participation at cycling events and the success of the British Cycling Go-ride coaching programme for young riders in Spalding, the club as decided to promote it’s own town centre race in partnership with the organisers of the town flower parade.
The aim of the race is to increase awareness of the sport of cycling and give the young riders of the region the opportunity to race in front of large crowds.
Town centre racing offers an exciting racing for riders and spectators alike. With closed roads, riders don’t have to worry about traffic, and youths can race in a safe environment.
The fast action is also great for the crowd and offers great opportunities for local sponsors to become involved.
Sunday 6TH May. Racing begins at 1pm with a full programme of youth racing, followed by a beginners race for 4th cats. The final National B event for 2nd 3rd and 4th cat riders starts at 15.55.
